Easter and Round Top

So, the weekend started off with some fun at the Junk Gypsy Prom. Lindsey and I met the entire Maurer family out there for some fun, dancing and adult beverages. We stepped into our tutu's, put on some jewelry and headed out for some good times!

Jamie, Lindsey and my Christmas presents were put to good use!
Lindsey decided it was her turn to sing along with the band. Not sure which song it was!!!
The remainder of our weekend was spent with our wonderful family. Saturday we went to my Nanny's house with the rest of the Wilke family. Our extended aunts, uncles and cousins were there to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection as well! The day was spent eating, hunting Easter eggs and playing 42! Morgan, Macey and I had our own fun with their Easter baskets, blowing bubbles and decorating Nanny's sidewalk with chalk!
Sunday was a long day, but was spent with some absolutely wonderful people. We went to a fantastic church service, took family pictures in the bluebonnets and spent the rest of the day celebrating! The first gathering was at the Borchgardt family Easter. Dot and Dan were gracious enough again to open their home to all of us! The food was delicious, the beer was cold and the company was crazy as usual! We had such a good time!!! We rounded up the evening at The Brownstone Easter where Betty and I skunked Jared and Jason at 42! Wow...what a weekend!!
My fantastic Wilke family

Colt adores his MeMe!!

He did NOT want to get off the tractor! Looks like we have a future farmer on our hands!

Colt wasn't quite sure what to do! Pooped after a long day!

Too cute!

Colt's Birthday and More...

Yep, so once again I am a little late on getting this thing updated. Better late than never, though! Colt celebrated his first birthday party at Fireman's Park on February 27. We could not have asked for a better day. The weather was beautiful, the carousel horses were circling, and the food was eaten. We had so many friends and family there to help our little one celebrate. Colt was an angel all day long. And...to top it all off...his birthday cake was to die for! I cried when I first saw it. Brenham Olde Town Bakery did a FANTASTIC job. It was so stinkin cute and it tasted wonderful. Thank you again to everyone who helped Colt celebrate his first birthday!

A few days later we decided to borrow Betty and Jimbo's bikes and buy a seat for Colt. We took a long ride around Brenham...and Colt loved it. Jared not so much because Colt kept kicking him and pulling his shorts down. It was pretty funny from my point of view!!!

SNow and Haircut

Snow in Brenham!!!

Colt turned one on February 23, 2010.....which is a momentous occasion of it's own. But.........then it snowed!!! We felt so blessed to share this day with him! He wasn't exactly sure what to think about it, but at least we have pictures to show him later in life! Especially since it probably will not snow again for several years!!!

We had such an eventful week so far! Because of old wives tales, I had to wait until Colt was 1 in order to get his first hair cut! And I have to say....HE DID GREAT!!!! Karisa did a fantastic job with him, and he just sat so still for her. He actually sat the quietest when she used the clippers. He was such a good boy! Mommy and MeMe were the ones crying!!!!

Happy Birthday Colt

So, my precious baby boy turns a year old tomorrow and it is taking everything I have to not cry through this entire thing. I thought I would take this time to reflect on the past year and how far we have come.

A year ago today Jared and I were sitting on the couch at our rent house when I felt something just wasn't right. I went to the bathroom.....and finally figured out that my water had broke. I was having no contractions or any other problems, so I actually had Jared google "water breaking" to make sure that we weren't jumping the gun. Lo and behold that is what was happening, so off to the hospital we were. Less than 24 hours later, we were holding Colt in our arms and thinking "what do we do now?"

The first couple months of Colt's life seemed like the longest months EVER. According to my diagnosis....he had colic and reflux. It took several trials of different formulas before finding that Soy agreed with him the most. We spent many sleepless nights walking around and around the house. Once he did start sleeping long, we were awake scared that something was wrong! Now, he sleeps about 11 hours at night and daddy and I are so grateful!!!

It is just amazing to see how far our little man has come. We have treasured every moment of every day of his life. From his first smile, laugh and hug. From him learning to scoot and then on to crawling. From pulling up on things, to wondering when he would walk (that hasn't happened yet!). He is our pride and joy and we could not imagine a world without him. Our lives have changed and we can only imagine what the future will bring. We look forward to all that life has to offer us as a family. Thank you to everyone for your love, support and help over the past year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLT!!

MOMMY AND DADDY LOVE YOU!!!

No Time to Breathe...

So I guess I am playing poor pitiful me by saying I have no time to update this whole blog thing....but then I think about all my friends who have SEVERAL babies and update all the time. So...once again.....POOR PITIFUL ME!!!!
I know that it has been way too long...but just a quick update. Colt had a wonderful first Christmas. So wonderful that we are going to be putting our queen size guest bed in storage and start looking for a day bed in order to convert the room into his playroom. Not sure what we are going to do once we decide to add to our family!!! He got so many fun presents and cute clothes from all of his wonderful family! But of course he had more fun with the paper and boxes!

We have also found new ways to entertain him.....including climbing on the dishwasher, climbing out the doggie door....... Guess our house isn't as "baby proof" as we thought.

Life has been very fun watching him grow and develop. It is just amazing how much a child can change your life. For the better of course! Now....if I can just find the time to get his first birthday planned......
